Position Overview

The HR Manager / Employee Experience Manager will lead JCI’s human resources function, partnering closely with leadership to support our people, culture, and long-term growth. This role goes beyond traditional HR administration. It is strategic, forward-thinking, and deeply connected to employee engagement. The ideal candidate is proactive, people-focused, and able to build systems that scale while maintaining the personal touch JCI is known for.

This role oversees all HR operations, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, training, compliance, performance management, and culture initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for all salaried and hourly positions, including forecasting needs, writing job postings, sourcing candidates, and supporting hiring managers.
  • Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline for project managers, superintendents, skilled trades, interns, and administrative roles.
  • Champion workforce development initiatives, career fairs, school partnerships, and JCI’s internship program.

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Design and manage a seamless onboarding and orientation process that reflects JCI’s values.
  • Implement new-hire check-ins, engagement surveys, mentorship touchpoints, and offboarding procedures.
  • Develop and execute employee engagement programs such as Family Day, appreciation events, milestone recognition, and culture-building traditions.

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Evaluate and strengthen HR policies, procedures, and systems to support company growth.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on people operations, retention, workforce trends, and organizational development.
  • Lead HR data tracking, reporting, and analysis to guide decision-making.

Employee Relations

  • Act as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR issues, conflict resolution, and general support.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive work environment rooted in JCI’s core values.
  • Handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Administer benefits programs including health insurance, retirement, paid leave, FMLA, and workers’ compensation.
  • Support annual open enrollment and partner with brokers to enhance offerings.
  • Assist leadership with compensation benchmarking and pay equity reviews.

Compliance & Safety Support

  • Maintain compliance with federal and state labor laws, E-Verify, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
  • Oversee background checks, MVR checks, and required credentialing.
  • Collaborate with Safety leadership to support safety onboarding and ongoing compliance.

Training & Performance Management

  • Coordinate internal and external training for managers, field staff, apprentices, and administrative teams.
  • Support development of career paths, coaching resources, and performance evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen leadership development and succession planning.

HR Operations

  • Oversee data accuracy, personnel files, leave management, and documentation.
  • Improve workflows and automate processes where appropriate.
  • Ensure consistent communication of HR updates, newsletters, and policy changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in HR; industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of HR laws, compliance, recruiting, and employee relations.
  • Exceptional communication, people skills, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to lead with empathy while upholding accountability and professionalism.
  • Experience building and improving HR systems and processes.
