Position Overview

JCI Contractors is seeking a skilled Carpenter with hands-on experience in commercial construction, including new builds and renovation projects. This is a field-based position that requires a high standard of craftsmanship, the ability to read and interpret construction documents, and the versatility to perform across multiple phases of a project. The Carpenter works as part of JCI’s self-perform crew and reports directly to the project Superintendent. We are looking for someone with a long-term mindset who is interested in growing into the next level of field leadership, such as Assistant Superintendent or Project Superintendent. Candidates currently located in or around the South Georgia area are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rough and finish carpentry across commercial new construction and renovation projects

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to carry out work accurately

  • Install framing, doors, hardware, millwork, blocking, and other structural and finish elements

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with company and OSHA safety standards

  • Coordinate with Superintendent and project team to meet schedule and quality expectations

  • Perform work at the quality standard expected on commercial projects

  • Follow and enforce company policies and procedures on the jobsite

  • Communicate professionally with team members, subcontractors, and site leadership

  • Willingness to travel as needed to support project and company needs

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional carpentry experience required

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial carpentry, including new construction and renovation work

  • Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • Strong working knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and methods

  • Understanding of OSHA safety requirements and jobsite safety practices

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Certification in carpentry or a related field is a plus

  • Valid driver’s license preferred

  • Willingness to travel as required by project needs

  • Desire to grow within the company toward a field leadership role such as Assistant Superintendent or Project Superintendent

  • Currently located in or around the South Georgia area preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, work at heights, and spend the majority of the day working outdoors on an active construction site. 
  • Ability to perform a variety of physical activities associated with construction sites such as climbing ladders. 
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather environments.
